Little Red Schoolhouse

Little Red Schoolhouse
Founded in 1922, the Little Red Schoolhouse was built to provide English-language education to the children of Old Harry, one of the historic birthplaces of the English-speaking community of the Magdalen Islands.
Now an integral part of the Old Harry Heritage Site, this century-old school has preserved all its original charm. Stepping through its doors is like traveling back in time to a 1920s classroom, where every detail, from the original desks to the chalkboard, evokes the island way of life of years past.
The permanent exhibition immerses visitors in the world of the archipelago’s early English-speaking settlers, shedding light on their daily lives, their traditions, and the ongoing challenges faced by this unique community.
